Tom Holland Says Superhero Movies Should Represent More Than “Straight White Guy.”

The question was whether Marvel could give us a gay Spider-Man. He was 23 years old when he answered, and he did not hesitate.
A reporter in 2019 asked Tom Holland if Marvel would ever introduce a gay Spider-Man. He did not avoid it.

“The world is not as simple as a straight white man. It doesn’t stop there, and these films need to represent more than one person,” he said.

Seven years later, he’s still in charge of the franchise in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” and this month he’s been in an unstoppable run at the premiere of that film and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”
