Lauren Sánchez, 56, will reportedly not have the budget to have a baby with Jeff Bezos
In a New York Times profile published on April 11, Sánchez repeated to the reporter, Amy Chozick, to have another child. “Do it!” he said. “I was going to have another tomorrow. Tomorrow.” When Chozick asked if she and Bezos were considering it, Sánchez repeated, “I’m having a baby tomorrow,” with what Chozick described as a coy smile. A spokeswoman later clarified that Sánchez was not pregnant.
Within days, Hollywood insider Rob Shuter reported that the couple is actively pursuing it. Sources told her newspaper Naughty But Nice that they are talking to experts, researching funds, and exploring experimental fertility treatments. “They can afford the best doctors in the world,” said one insider. “Private labs, experimental treatments, you name it.” Another source: “They’re looking at options that most people don’t even know exist.”
At the age of 56, Sánchez will join the growing list of wealthy women who had children later in life with access to advanced reproductive technology: Janet Jackson had her first child at 50, Naomi Campbell at 51, Brigitte Nielsen at 54. Billionaire dads do it even later. George Clooney had twins at 56. Robert De Niro had a child at the age of 79. Al Pacino at 83. With unlimited resources, age becomes a different conversation.
