Lauren Sánchez, 56, will reportedly not have the budget to have a baby with Jeff Bezos

In a New York Times profile published on April 11, Sánchez repeated to the reporter, Amy Chozick, to have another child. “Do it!” he said. “I was going to have another tomorrow. Tomorrow.” When Chozick asked if she and Bezos were considering it, Sánchez repeated, “I’m having a baby tomorrow,” with what Chozick described as a coy smile. A spokeswoman later clarified that Sánchez was not pregnant.
Within days, Hollywood insider Rob Shuter reported that the couple is actively pursuing it. Sources told her newspaper Naughty But Nice that they are talking to experts, researching funds, and exploring experimental fertility treatments. “They can afford the best doctors in the world,” said one insider. “Private labs, experimental treatments, you name it.” Another source: “They’re looking at options that most people don’t even know exist.”
At the age of 56, Sánchez will join the growing list of wealthy women who had children later in life with access to advanced reproductive technology: Janet Jackson had her first child at 50, Naomi Campbell at 51, Brigitte Nielsen at 54. Billionaire dads do it even later. George Clooney had twins at 56. Robert De Niro had a child at the age of 79. Al Pacino at 83. With unlimited resources, age becomes a different conversation.
Sánchez has 3 children from a previous relationship: a son with ex-NFL player Tony Gonzalez, and a son and daughter with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell, former Endeavor executive chairman. Bezos has 4 children with his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott. The couple celebrated Bezos’ 62nd birthday in Seattle by making pancakes for all 7 children.
They married in June 2025 in a 3-day ceremony in Venice. 200 guests were transported by water taxi across the Venetian lagoon. The list included Queen Rania of Jordan, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Sydney Sweeney, and 5 members of the Kardashian-Jenner family. They exchanged vows in San Giorgio Maggiore. Cell phones were not allowed at the ceremony or reception. “No NDAs!” Sánchez said. “They are our friends.”
They live in a $230 million estate in Indian Creek, a private island in Miami known as the Billionaire Bunker. Every morning they list 10 things they are grateful for without repeating anything from yesterday. They work out 6 days a week with a personal trainer. He drinks his coffee from a mug that reads “Woke Up Sexy as Hell Again.” He found him writing HUNK in the symbols of the periodic table.
Bezos’ net worth is estimated at $250 billion. He stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 but remains the executive chairman and largest shareholder. In January, Amazon laid off 16,000 workers while the couple was in Paris for couture week, where Sánchez was photographed in vintage Dior with fur and diamonds from Mercedes and Anna Wintour. A few weeks later, the Washington Post, which Bezos bought in 2013, put up nearly a third of its newsroom. A netizen called Sánchez a “capitalist slave girl.”
Sánchez began his career in broadcast journalism. He hosted the first season of “So You Think You Can Dance,” co-hosted “Good Day LA,” and interviewed twice for “The View.” He didn’t get it. At the age of 42, he started flying and eventually launched Black Ops Aviation, an aerial film production company. He was the one who flew Bezos in a helicopter when they first crossed paths.
He is the vice chairman of the Bezos Earth Fund, which has distributed at least 2.4 billion in grants. In May, the couple will serve as honorary co-chairs of the Met Gala, a decision that fashion insiders say feels like the couple has “hijacked” the event. Sánchez said Anna Wintour called him personally. “Anna called me, I said, ‘Who’s Anna?'” he joked.
Regarding criticism of her appearance and clothing, Sánchez said she believes much of it is based on racial stereotypes. “It’s the state of my body,” he said. “I’m Latin. I’m Latin. I’m Latin.”
She told the Times she thought she would dress appropriately for Trump’s second inauguration in white Alexander McQueen pants. When the party entered the house and took off her coat, the blazer fell open to reveal a lace bra. They were sitting directly behind Trump. The bra was in every photo. “There is no lace in the White House,” he said. “Noted.”
