A Gentle Reminder: Nothing Will Ever Fill You Like the Love of Jesus

We all want love, we want happiness, we want a place where we can be or someone else to understand what we are going through. We’re searching for answers, we’re looking for understanding, we’re looking for some sense of balance in this crazy, spinning world.
It often feels like we are missing, like there is a missing part of us, a piece that has left a hole in our hearts, no matter how hard we try to patch it up and put ourselves back together. We try to fill this emptiness with our bad habits, relationships, people, material things or things that only hide the pain by drowning us.
But perhaps our search is not about finding something to fall into, something to hide or protect us from the storms of this life. Maybe our search isn’t about loving someone, or finding someone who will somehow fix all of our heartbreaks because we know, deep down, they won’t.
Maybe we want something bigger than ourselves, a love so big and beautiful that we cannot understand it. Maybe we are looking for someone who has all the answers, who leads us and who loves us so much and already sees us as perfect in His perfect eyes.
Perhaps what we are looking for is right in front of us: God’s unfailing love for his son, Jesus.
And I hope, if this is how you feel right now—lost and broken, confused and misled, wandering aimlessly, dizzy and falling deep into the dark pit of your mind—that you open your heart to Jesus and know that He is, He is, He is loving and appreciating and guiding you, every step you take.
And I hope you start to fall in love with who you are and will always be in your life.
I hope you stop looking for answers at the bottom of bottles or in magazines that will never show you the true picture of how beautiful you are. I hope you stop looking to others, imperfect people to guide you and notice the steps of Christ, which lead you to light.

I hope you stop allowing yourself to be trampled on, hurt, abandoned by people who don’t see your true value and start seeing yourself through the eyes of Jesus. You are His creation. You are His child. You are strong and loved.
I hope you will stop focusing on everything you lack and start seeing what you have bewho are you there isyou can’t it becomes I hope you will stop desiring material things and believe in the eternal gifts you have in Jesus name.
I hope you will stop thinking that you are not enough, you are not equal, you are inferior because in the eyes of Christ, you are always enough and you are never inferior.
I hope you begin to learn that nothing in this world will fill you like the love of Jesus. And I hope, little by little, day by day, you begin to fall in love with Him—with the way He cares for you, with the power of His word, with the strong presence that will never leave you, with the faithfulness and persistence He has in your life, even when you wander in the other direction.
I hope you begin to love His grace, His love, and His power to fill the emptiness of your heart with confidence and peace.
I hope you are beginning to fall in love with all that he can do in your life—the changes he can make, the people he can reach, the miracles he can bring, the new beginnings he will build for you on a path that leads to better days, not broken ones.
I hope you are starting to love yourself the way He sees you, beautiful and brave and strong in His name. And I hope you’re starting to see yourself that way too. Because you are His creation, His son, His daughter.
This life revolves around us in many ways. We are bombarded by people, by circumstances, at times that escalate beyond our control until we want to cling to anything that makes sense. It is very easy to get caught up in wrong things, in people who do not have our best interests at heart, in evil that only destroys us, in situations that break our hearts.
But in all this turmoil, Christ stands firm.
In the difficulties of our lives, in the bad things we have done, in the mistakes and pains and losses and loneliness, he expects us to accept him, to open the doors of our hearts and let him begin to change us from the inside out.

He expects us to trust that he is in charge, and always will be. And we are expected to believe that whatever pain we feel we don’t have to fight alone. Because He is on our side, taking the sword and will fight for us.
So Leave Him.
Let him go and fight for you. Let him resist your demons. Let Him fill your heart with forgiveness and strength and zeal and hope. Let him bring you to better days.
Let him love you.
And allow yourself to fall in love with Him in return. Allow yourself to be blessed by His goodness, strengthened by His fearlessness, and encouraged by His voice.
I hope you know that you no longer have to face the world alone, you no longer have to fear what will come next, you no longer have to feel empty. Because you are filled with him.
