Here’s What You Can Expect From Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 (Based On The Book ‘Offer From A Gentleman’)

Bridgerton you’re back, baby! Well, in part – Netflix has split its fourth season into two separate parts, and as of January 29, we’ve been treated to the first four episodes of the season. And the other part? We will have to wait until the end of February for those.

Anyway, Part 1 is a lot of fun on its own. This season finally—finally!— centered on the Ton’s bad boy, Benedict Bridgerton. After three seasons of making art, doing drugs, and sleeping his way into society, Benedict finally begins to understand why his siblings chose the traditional path and settled down. Well, kind of.

The season begins with Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, where everyone is required to keep their information secret until midnight. Sophie Baek, the illegitimate daughter of an officer turned maid, sneaks to the event, hoping her stepmother won’t see because everyone will be wearing masks. But while he often stays under the radar, there’s one person he can’t seem to shake the spotlight on: of course, we’re talking about Benedict.

Benedict is quickly smitten by Sophie, whose name he doesn’t get before running off in the middle of the night. He calls her “The Lady In Silver” and searches for Ton all his mysterious lady, but nothing; at the same time, Sophie’s stepmother discovers that Sophie has gone to the ball in secret and kicks her out of the house. Sophie is forced into the countryside to work for another household, and reunites with Benedict one fateful night—and when Benedict saves her from his creepy servant’s son, he takes her back to London with him (after a brief stay in his cottage, of course).

Despite their class differences (and the fact that Benedict is still loved by the Lady In Silver”), the two can’t help but fall for each other.” In fact, Benedict is so smitten by Sophie that he asks her the age-old question: “Will you be my wife?

Yes, THIS is where we left off in part 1, with Benedict’s errant delivery and Sophie leaving him behind.

So what’s next for our star players? According to actress Yerin Ha, this season follows the book more closely than previous seasons, which means we actually have a good guess about what we’ll see in season 2.

Sophie’s Step Family Flocks Around the Bridgertons—And Benedict Helps Her Hide Her

We hear this at the end of Part 1, but it will be a big problem for Sophie going forward as she continues to try to hide her identity.

It may also be what helps him get her into Benedict’s arms. In the book, when Penwood first calls at the Bridgerton house, Sophie panics and tries to hide; Benedict finds her and begs her to come with him to his bachelor pad. While there, they bond over feeling like outsiders to their families and open up a bit about their lives, leading Benedict to realize that he’s completely in love with her.

In the book, this is also where they finally make love

Benedict Tries To Move Sophie To Her Bachelor Pad

It’s not enough that Sophie lives in the Bridgerton house – in the book, Benedict wants her in HIS house. After making love for the first time, Benedict orders her belongings to be moved to his house, but she refuses.

Benedict is hurt, but it also forces them to talk about why Benedict doesn’t believe they can get married—not just because of his name, but because he knows Ton will go after Sophie if they do get married. Sophie also opens up about her fear, which is that if she agrees to be with him, she will have an illegitimate child with Benedict – and that the child will face the same fate that Sophie did growing up.

While Playing The Game, Sophie Closes Her Eyes – And Benedict Has An Epiphany

While playing a game of “blind man” with the Bridgerton children, Sophie ties a scarf over her eyes. Benedict walks by and notices that she looks familiar—not like the Sophie he knows, but like the Lady In Silver.

He finally puts the pieces together and confronts Sophie about it, hurt that she’s been keeping a secret from him. He angrily admits that he spent all this time looking for her, but Sophie tells him that she wouldn’t let him find her. When he continued to ask who he was, he finally admitted that he was the son of an officer and a worker.

Violet Admits She Knows About Benedict’s Feelings For Sophie – And That Sophie Is Not Who She Seems

Violet is always the MVP, especially when it comes to her children’s love lives. Earlier in the book, Benedict admitted that he had fallen in love with someone outside of his social class, and Violet told him that she would accept him no matter what; so it’s not really hard for him to put the pieces together and realize that Sophie is the woman he’s referring to, even though she’s keeping it a secret.

However, he finally admits to Sophie that he knows about the couple and that he knows that Sophie may not be who she says she is. Although Violet does not fire her, Sophie tells Violet that she is leaving the house and looking for work elsewhere.

Sophie’s Stepmother Accuses Her of Stealing—And Arrests Her

Before Sophie leaves Ton, her stepmother sees where she’s been hiding and calls the police, accusing Sophie of stealing the shoelaces from her (the ones that Posy had given Sophie). Sophie is arrested and taken to jail, which the Bridgertons find out after it is written about The call-and after Benedict finally decides he really wants to marry Sophie, even if it’s considered inappropriate.

Benedict goes to the prison to pick up Sophie, and Violet insists that he go. When they get there, Violet lies that Sophie is Benedict’s fiancee and that Sophie has been falsely accused. Sophie’s stepmother, Araminta, is also in jail, and even though she says the Bridgertons are lying, Posy shows up and tells everyone she gave Sophie the shoelaces. He says that if Sophie is going to remain in prison, she should also be put in custody.

Finally, the magistrate acquits Sophie. It is also revealed that The Earl of Penwood it was necessary he left Sophie’s money, but Araminta stole it.

Benedict proposes

Benedict finally fully apologizes for asking Sophie to be his wife—although he admits that he would have been a fool not to ask, because he was in love with her, even if they weren’t allowed to marry. However, he tells her that he has decided to marry her anyway, and that he would have done so even if Lady Penwood had not been forced to confirm Sophie’s social standing.

This leads to the infamous “Bath Scene”: Benedict takes Sophie back to her bathroom and orders two people to take a bath, and helps her clean up the mess from the prison. He tells her that in his heart, she is still his wife, and they fall in love again.

Benedict arranges for them to get married within three days, and after that, they both move to the countryside together.
