Tech Moves: Smartsheet CTO leaves; Overland AI pulls a legitimate trail; Zillow, Comcast encourage executives

Cynthia Tee he is gone Smartsheetwhere he was the chief technology officer of a large project management software company. Tee has been CTO since February 2025; prior to that he was senior vice president of engineering for nearly four years.

The Bellevue company has not publicly announced Tee’s departure or named a replacement. A spokesman said via email: “Thank you [Tee] with many donations and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Tee told GeekWire that he has never taken on a new role elsewhere.

Early in his career, Tee was with Microsoft for two decades, joining in 1994 and working for many years on Windows technology. Prior to Smartsheet, he was vice president of merchandising technology at Nordstrom.

Tee is also the executive director of Seattle’s Ada Developers Academy, a free bootcamp that provides training for women and other underrepresented people in technology.

Smartsheet laid off an undisclosed number of employees earlier this month. Tech veteran Rajeev “Raj” Singh took over as CEO in October following the August announcement that longtime Smartsheet CEO Mark Mader was retiring.

Overland AIa Seattle-based startup building autonomous vehicles for use by the US military, for rent Mark Dewyea as head of law. Dewyea, who is based in Virginia, joins the company from Shield AI where he was chief of staff and in-house counsel.

“Mark brings a wealth of experience across the government, military, and defense sectors, including service as an acting attorney for judges in the US Marine Corps and as a legal analyst at the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” said Overland AI on LinkedIn.

Overland AI came out of the University of Washington in 2022 and earlier this month announced a new $100 million grant.

Jessica Roberto joins the Washington State Department of Commerce As the Knowledge Economy Lead at the Office for Economic Development and Competitiveness.

Roberto was previously at the UW’s Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship where he served as director and manager of graduate student programs and the Holomon Health Innovation Challenge. He has been at the Buerk Center for six years and has a PhD from the UW in pathobiology.

Heather Redmanfounder and managing partner of the venture capital company Flying Fish, now on the board of directors of the Seattle branch Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
