Top 4 Self-Hating Zodiac Signs

When we don’t know who to hate, we hate ourselves.
Chuck Pahlaniuk
Self-loathing seems like a counterintuitive idea and something that shouldn’t happen. Doesn’t nature set us up to protect ourselves, protect ourselves, and even make excuses when we are clearly wrong just to escape punishment?
Whether you believe in divine creation or Darwinian evolution, the truth is that most people are prone to self-loathing and self-destruction. If they weren’t there, there would be no such thing as suicide. Many of us—not very many—are burdened by shame, guilt, and insecurity. Much of it is based on negative experiences in childhood and social trauma during adolescence. But some of it is based on the way the stars align when we are born.
Here are the four most common astrological signs to hate. You may notice that the top two are ruled by Mercury, the planet that rules criticism and anxiety.
Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is full of doubts and anxious thoughts. They are widely known to be the most judgmental of all the zodiac signs, but this doesn’t just apply to how they judge others—they don’t forgive themselves. They never take credit for their accomplishments, and are forever wallowing in their mistakes, leading to endless periods of sleeplessness and the resulting cloud of indifference hanging over their heads. They hate themselves for perpetuating this cycle of self-harm, but it is this intense self-hatred that keeps the cycle going. This makes them more prone to drug abuse, risky behavior, unhealthy eating, and other random self-destructive actions.
Ruled by Mercury, which leads to constant self-criticism and worry, twins are sadly unaware that to most people, they seem completely normal—even abnormal. So when someone says he loves him or thinks he is great, he doesn’t trust that person. Their souls are tormented by pieces of toxic guilt for things they did long ago, things they have never forgiven themselves for. Although they are overthinkers, they miss the irony in this—it is this precise tendency to overthink and not let things go and enjoy life directly that is at the heart of their problem. For them, there is no happy experience on Earth that cuts them to the limit and there is always more than one insult from a stranger.
Libras are known for their indifference, but what is less known about them is that they just show their self-loathing to the world. They put on a mask of self-confidence and complain endlessly about the way others behave, secretly hoping no one will see how much deep self-doubt they cause. They set impossible standards for themselves, and when they fail to reach them, they don’t even realize they are setting themselves up for failure. Thirty good things can happen to them in one day, and they will focus on one bad thing that happens.
Who would have thought that the crab is the most volatile emotional state of all the star signs? Maybe they should be represented by Kleenex instead. Cancer is the only sign ruled by the moon, and the Latin word for moon—it is—and is the origin of the word “crazy.” This doesn’t mean that all Cancers are crazy, though it does means that they are more prone to emotions than all other symptoms. When it comes to feelings about themselves, Cancers feel sorry for themselves. They obsess over everything bad that happens to them, but especially failed romances. But they often fail in love because of their self-righteousness—they get mad at people at will and often drive them away.
