Sandler officiated the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, 2026. Swift’s representative confirmed the news in a statement, describing Sandler as a “friend” of the couple. Austin Swift stood as his sister’s “Man of Honor” and Jason Kelce was his brother’s best man. After the performance of “What I Do,” jumbotrons outside the stadium flashed “JUST&T MARRIED!”
The direct bridge was Kelce. The two became friends on the set of Happy Gilmore 2, the Netflix sequel released in July 2025, where the Kansas City Chiefs make a cameo at the end. Kelce spoke about the experience on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show in January 2025: “Working with Happy Gilmore himself, Sandman and Happy Productions, was over.” He added that Sandler is “as cool on screen as he is on screen, and that was a dream.”
Sandler spoke about Kelce in a July 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight that was attached to the film. “Travis is a gentle, kind man, and funny as hell,” he said. “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my friends in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.” In the same interview he called Kelce “a great actor and a great person,” and a “student player.”
Swift’s side of the friendship started with Sandle’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny, who have been fans for years. Swift greeted the girls at the October 2023 Los Angeles premiere of her Eras Tour concert film, and Sandler brought it up in the same ET interview. “Taylor is amazing,” she said. “Taylor is very good to my family and has always been good. My kids have met Taylor many times over the years, and she is good to them and warm.”
On Conan O’Brien’s podcast in February 2024, Sandler admitted that he doesn’t play nice around her. “Because I don’t want to blow my kids up … I’m not always as cool as I could be,” she said, describing herself as “a bit jumpy.” He put his scale in his own way: “People talk about the Beatles of everything and him. I mean, a lot of hot hits. There’s not a word my kids don’t know.”
