If Your Life Looks Like What You’re Praying For, Read This

If life doesn’t happen the way we prayed, it may feel like a loss but faith reminds us that God may shape something deeply. Rebecca Simon reminds us of this at Finding God Every Dayencouraging students to trust in God’s purpose at all times—read below.
You had a vision for your life—one that was not focused on competition or pride, but on hope and spirit. You dreamed with God, you trusted the process, you believe that if you do the right thing every time, your wishes will come true in a good and focused way that you have always imagined.
But now you’re standing in the middle of a life that looks like the one you once pictured, and when you’re silent, it’s easy to wonder if you’ve forgotten. If you made a mistake somewhere in your journey, if your prayers were not strong enough to be heard, if your faith was not deep enough to carry you into your being.
This is grief that no one talks about—mourning a version of your life that never became reality. At the end of the day, it’s hard to admit that the chapters you prayed about aren’t the ones you’re living, but to make peace with that. is something it doesn’t mean you failed. It does not mean that your prayers fell on silent ears. It just means that God is preparing something different for you—something you didn’t plan for, something that will make more sense later.
Peace begins when you stop punishing yourself for consequences you cannot control. When you stop measuring your worth by how close your life is to the dreams you’ve been holding. Peace begins when you realize that just because it didn’t look like the prayer you once prayed, doesn’t mean it wasn’t the answer.
God is not known for blessing us with the very things we desire – He is known for shaping us with what we need. And sometimes all we need is a closed door. An unexpected ending. A change of direction that sustains us, heals us, makes us whole in ways that early hope could not.
If you’re wondering how to make peace with a life that looks different from what you’ve asked for—you must choose to believe that your prayers have not been spoken in vain. It was a seed. You choose to trust that God has seen all your pain, heard all the requests of your heart, and still chooses to put you where you are—not to hurt you or drive you away, but to help you grow.

You choose to release the pressure to make sense of it all and instead ask, “What is this teaching me? Who is this helping me become?”
Peace does not always come in the form of clarity. Sometimes it enters your life and uses your devotion as a channel. This may not be the future you prayed for, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be holy. That doesn’t mean it can’t hold happiness. It just means that healing is happening—in a way that doesn’t always look like a miracle, but feels like one when you finally learn to rest within it.
