I want to stop declaring that I am lost, I don’t know what to do or where to go. I want to stop saying that I don’t have time, or I have time but I want space. I want to stop thinking that I can do things on my own. That I can live without you. That I can breathe on my own.
I want to stop whatever the hell I’m doing with my life and start doing it Your way.
I want to get up and grab my Bible before I answer my phone. I want to wake up in the morning and be happy to hear Your voice instead of hearing the world. I want to have a meaningful conversation with you first thing in the morning rather than with my colleague or boss. I want to tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you before I close my eyes to sleep instead of sending someone a cheap text message.
I want to Praise You and understand. I want to serve You and be true to it. I want to say words that bring glory to You and actually mean it. I want to sing the songs and deliver the lyrics with sincerity. I want to raise my hand to You and know that it is because of You, that You are the only thing I think about, the only thing I fix.
I want to say, “God, you are everything to me.” and realize that I am empty and abandoned, that without a doubt I am nothing without you. I want to say prayers and make sure that they come from the depths of my soul, not empty words, or empty promises.
I want to please You, not the world. I want to do it for Your glory and not mine. I want my life to be a book of blessing, a prism that will shine Your light.
I want to reject the world and answer Your word. I want to stop listening to what it wants me to be and start listening to what you want me to be.
I want to stop living in the past, in my sins, in the things I regret, in the things that hurt me. I want to forget all that and remember Your beauty, Your glory and Your grace every morning.
I want to free myself and get lost in YOU. I want to burn for you. I want to be as happy about You as I am about the holidays and more. I want to be passionate about loving you as much as I love writing and more. God, I want to say ‘I love you’ and know in my heart that I love you, that I finally love you.
I want to love You more than I love myself, or the people around me, or the world for that matter. I want to put You first, before my affairs, before my personal desires. I want to build my life around you, not around my work or my love life.
I want to pursue things that will make You proud of me. I want to follow people who will bring me closer to You. I want to pursue things that will honor You.
I want to come back, God.
To you, the only Person who ever loved me and loved me without ceasing. To You, who calls me forever as His own daughter. To You, who treats me as His precious possession. For you, no matter how far I run, you always wait for that sweet moment when I come back. For you, when storms and seas are raging, you will always be there to hold me still.
God, I just want to come back. It’s the longest time I’ve known that I’ve been there; praying, reading Your word, going to church but am I really there? Am I really there? Are you really listening to me? It is possible. Maybe not. The thing is, I just want to be there and make sure I’m there. I want to be in Your mother-in-law. I want to be in Your love. I want to be in Your arms. I want to be woken up. I want to be new, far from what I was yesterday.
God, I just want to come back.
