Federal Agent Compares UFO to “Eye of Sauron” in New Pentagon UAP Report

The Department of Defense released a large collection of declassified UAP files today at war.gov/UFO. Buried in a 4-page desktop dump dated 5.08.2026, the same day it was released. The deck seems to be specially prepared for unwrapping.
Called the “Western US Event,” it spans 4 separate UAP sightings reported in 2023 by federal law enforcement special agents identified as USPER1 through USPER7. Each slide describes a different combination, and most of them involve the same 2 agents (USPER5 and USPER6). Estimates from the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) appear in the footnotes on slides 2 and 3.
Here’s what’s inside.
“Orbs Launch Orbs”

The first slide describes a series of evening observations over a 2-day period. Three teams of 2 federal law enforcement special agents (USPER1 to USPER6) independently reported watching orange “orbs” appear in the sky and emit small red orbs in groups of 2 to 4, with 3 being the most common.
According to the desk, this has happened at least 5 times. Each time, an orange orb would appear, turn on the red orbs, and then disappear. The orange orb was only visible for 1 or 2 seconds. The red orbs usually took off straight away from the orange “mother” orb, but in some cases it went up at an angle, and one witness reported seeing the red orbs “descend” after being launched.
Because the events are spread across multiple teams, locations, and vantage points, the deck says it is unknown whether a single “orange” orb was responsible for all launches or whether multiple orange orbs were working in sequence.
“The Great, Flaming Orb”

Slide 2 covers a single evening view of USPER5 and USPER6. The 2 agents observed a glowing orange orb positioned near the rock pinnacle. They estimate it to be 500 to 600 meters away and about the size of a small helicopter. AARO later determined the actual distance to be about 1050 meters and a range of 12 to 18 meters.
The agents could not see any structure other than the glowing orb itself. USPER6 noted that it appeared to have “a small spindle or something that connects from the bottom to the stone.” Nothing was heard.
Witnesses described the object on the deck as follows:
“It’s like the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings, without the pupil, or the orange bowling ball of Storm Electrify.”
USPER6 added that the object “appears to be moving erratically or wobbly, or stopped.” The sighting took about a minute.
The slide features an artist offering an orb in the upper right corner.
“Black Kite”

Slide to 3 o’clock in the pre-dawn hours. USPER5 and USPER6 were on patrol in a restricted area when they saw what appeared to be a car on the road. The “car” had 2 lights about 2 to 3 feet off the ground, 1 red and 1 white.
The police followed the car. As they got within a few hundred meters of it, the thing simply left the road and entered the desert. It moved sideways at about 15 to 20 mph without rotating, maintaining its position on the agents at all times. The height has not changed. Deck notes that the object appears to be moving with “zero resistance.”
The thing stopped about 100 meters off the side of the road and turned off its lights. From behind, USPER6 described the rest as “a thin line.” USPER5 said it “looks like an ill-defined black kite with rounded edges.”
USPER6 then put on night vision goggles. They observed a “split second phenomenon in NVGs before the light is extinguished.” When the lights were turned off, a “very thin line” was left, about 4 meters wide, laid horizontally on the ground. The object began to move and at 15 to 20 mph, it appeared to “rise up” while remaining in a flat line. The agent lost sight after a few seconds.
A footnote on the slide notes that in later discussions with AARO, the object was described as a triangle.
“Transparent Kite”

About 30 minutes after the Dark Kite encounter, USPER5 and USPER6 returned to normal with their partner identified as USPER7. They were responding to a report of something unauthorized.
Within a few hundred meters of the original Dark Kite sighting, USPER5 and USPER6 saw a kite-shaped object with a similar lighting pattern to what they had seen before. This one was about 6 feet off the ground, angled from right to upper left, and seemed to float slightly with the wind. USPER7 didn’t see it.
USPER5 used night vision to observe the object. According to the stack, USPER5 said from the mirrors, “they could see a bright star or two far away in the middle of the object, although they were very small.” That observation led the agents to believe that the object was somehow obvious.
After they lost sight of it, USPER5 used a spotlight to try to find it again. The deck quotes the agent’s account directly:
“At one point my light went from flashing farther and farther away to standing about 50 meters away with nothing in particular, it just didn’t go far, and then it was like that.
The team was unable to recover the item.
Excluding the Deck
The deck does not contain images of the actual items. The only visuals are 2 artist renderings (one of the orange orb, one of the kite-shaped objects seen with the naked eye) and a drawing of the lights seen in the “Dark Kite” sighting. AARO estimates appear in the footnotes but are not followed by any analysis or determination in the file itself. The Department of the Army released the document this morning as part of the first phase of materials under the PURSUE program, the President’s Closure and Reporting Program for UAP Meetings.
