Lil, but BIG money Wayne, signed his first record at the age of 11. Decades later, he says he still doesn’t sleep because the work never ends: he records day and night.

Lil Wayne says he doesn’t have a set bedtime and he never tries to lie down to sleep. Asked directly if he works day and night, he confirmed it, although he made one thing clear about how that work is done.

On the Friends Keeps Secrets podcast, he interrupted the interviewer mid-question. He said: “I don’t write. Someone in the room supported him: he doesn’t write anything. What he does is record.”

He traces the drive all the way back to childhood. “I signed my first contract when I was 11,” he said. “I started doing this around 7 or 8. Not one second has been a job. There’s still a kid in the toy store. That kid doesn’t sleep. The last thing a kid wants.”
