Pioneer Foundation, Inc. is teaming up with Ifugao State University and the Baang Farmers and Irrigators Association to increase productivity among farmers and encourage strong youth involvement in agriculture.

During the initial stages of the project, a team of Police Pioneers traveled to Barangay Baang, Hungduan, Ifugao to gain a deeper understanding of farmers’ needs and daily realities. Driven by their advocacy to uplift Filipino communities, the partnership grew into a meaningful campaign.

The project introduces advanced machinery to reduce manual labor and improve key farming practices. As part of the mission to address the decline in youth participation in agriculture, Pioneer is also providing scholarship assistance to Agriculture students from Ifugao State University.

IFSU University President Eva Marie Dugyon shared that this partnership is deeply in line with the university’s long-term goals of empowering the farming communities of Ifugao and IFSU students, such as Azalea Ballatong, who is one of the project’s scholarship recipients.

“Receiving this scholarship is more than financial aid. It is hope and prayer answered. It removes a heavy burden from my family’s shoulders, and reminds me that there are organizations that believe in students who dream beyond their circumstances,” said Ballatong.

In addition to financial support, academics are expected to participate in the program by helping with the management of equipment and the documentation of farming practices, helping to integrate traditional knowledge in systematic ways.

“We are happy that Pioneer has extended its scholarship to our students and we are blessed that IFSU is part of their wonderful program,” said Dugyon.

Driven by Pioneer’s commitment to strengthening the economic sustainability of Filipino communities, this project also aims to help secure the long-term preservation of rice fields. Pioneer Foundation, Inc., President, Atty. Betty Medialdea highlights that this program shows the importance of cooperation in supporting both lives and values.

“As climate pressures continue to threaten these areas, the need for sustainable action is even more urgent. In response, the Pioneer Foundation has been working closely with its partners to develop community-led initiatives.” Diadea said.

Through this partnership, Pioneer and its partners confirm their shared commitment to creating a lasting, measurable impact by empowering communities, developing sustainable agriculture, and helping to preserve the cultural and natural heritage of the Ifugao terraces for future generations.
