Who is Scott Swift? Taylor Swift’s Father Manages Her Money And Creates A Prenup For Her Wedding With Travis Kelce

A source says that Scott Swift, not Travis Kelce, is the only person Taylor trusts with her money, and is the one who put together the couple’s prenup before their wedding this year.

Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice reported that the 74-year-old man has been “protective” of his daughter all his life, especially while building his career. “He’s always there, but he’s never seen,” said the source, praising him for helping him become the biggest star in the world.

Scott has over 45 years in finance. He joined Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor in 1980 and now heads the Swift Group, a Merrill Lynch Wealth Management advisory group based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania that reportedly manages approximately $3.9 billion in client assets. He’s the managing director and chief relationship officer there, and finance runs in the family: his father and grandfather worked in the business, and he bought his first stock as a kid with money from his lawnmower line.

Born in Pennsylvania in 1952, he graduated from the University of Delaware in 1974 and married Andrea Finlay in 1988. The family lived on a 15-acre Christmas tree farm outside of Wyomissing before Scott moved his Merrill Lynch office to Nashville in 2003 and moved everyone to Hendersonville, Tennessee—old music so Taylor could sing for 14 years.

He also bet money. In January 2006, Scott invested nearly $500,000 in Big Machine Records, the label Scott Borchetta was building around Taylor, for a small stake. When Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings bought the big machine in 2019 for more than $300 million, Scott’s payment came in at about $15.1 million.

As likable as she is in person, she is reportedly getting “sharp” when it comes to Taylor’s interests. With nearly $2 billion in combined assets between him and Kelce, an insider framed the conversation as “smart business,” not a sign of distrust.

Kelce reportedly has no problem with it. “Taylor has love in her heart, and Scott has business in his head,” another source said.
