Nicole Kidman Says If You Need to Keep Your Blankie Until You’re 85, Keep It: “There’s no award for giving that up.”

During an interview with Zendaya on Variety’s “Cast to Cast,” which was taped in December 2024, Nicole Kidman pushed back on the idea that growing up means letting go of things that comfort you.

The two were talking about self-care when Kidman came up with a philosophy she says she shares with kids: luxury isn’t something you have to outgrow to show you’re a real adult.

She recently praised Zendaya, 28 at the time, for appearing strong and having a strong support system – she even brought her dog into the conversation. Then he turned the thought into advice.
Nicole Kidman: “I always say to children … your comfort is your comfort.”

Nicole Kidman: “If you need to keep your dress until you’re 85, you keep your dress. There’s no award for giving that up.”
